CULTURAL EVENTS
The ancient Thracian settlements with their historical landmarks and rich culture have developed through the centuries as attractive, internationally famous tourist centres. Most of the historical and architectural monuments are associated with notable cultural events, exhibitions and festivals, included in the cultural calendars of Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Sveti Vlas and Pomorie. Nessebar, as municipal centre, offers tourists and guests a wide variety of cultural events with international participation, most of which are a unique combination of history and present. A series of exhibitions of Bulgarian and foreign artists and photographers are organised in the town. The town is host to the international children’s festival “Sun, Joy, Beauty”, the international gymnastics festival “Nessebar”, the international art festival “Constellations in Nessebar”, the international festival “Nessebar – Island of the Arts”, the European folklore championship, the musical festival “Euro Folk”, and the festival of honey. In the ancient theatre of Old Nessebar, concerts of various genres are held, including performances from some of the most famous names in the Bulgarian and world opera stage, and popular names in pop-folk and pop music. Sunny Beach is a host to many annual international festivals of folklore and dance art, the world folklore championship, the international arts festival, the international festival-competition of music and choral art, the international children’s arts festival. Some of the greatest stars of electronic music meet in the resort. Incredible multimedia spectacles of the most famous DJs in the world are organized. Bulgarian and foreign performers and bands of various genres present their concerts at different clubs and hotels in the resort all through the season, creating intense emotions and excitement for the thousands in the audience. For the connoisseurs of art exhibitions, famous Bulgarian and foreign artists exhibit paintings, stained glass, and decorative glass in Sveti Vlas. The children’s festival-competition “Arena Friendship” and the national folklore festival “Golden Apple” are held annually in the Summer amphitheatre. Traditionally, the theatre hosts concerts of chamber orchestras, ethno-classical orchestras, concerts of Bulgarian and foreign instrumentalists, DJs, pop-folk performers, pop and electronic music. In recent years, Pomorie has turned into a centre for a great variety of cultural events with international participation. A number of exhibitions with the participation of Bulgarian and foreign artists and photographers are organised for the tourists and guests of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Annually, the town hosts the international festival of Orthodox music “Theotokos – It Is Truly Meet”, the international children’s festival “The Ship of Dreams”, the international festival of disadvantaged people, festival of the folk dance clubs “Horo by the Pomorie Coast”, the national festival of brass bands and majorettes ”The Rhythm of the Heart”, the culinary festival “Salt, the White Gold of Pomorie”, and the festival of honey. The national recital-competition on works by Yavorov within the framework of the poetry festivities “Yavorov Days” and the festival “A Sea of Wine” are a tradition of the town.
